     BARSTOW Refugio Cuco Chavez, 65, of Pecos, a retired laborer, died
                 Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his residence.
      Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Refuge
   Catholic Church with the Rev. George Vasquez officiating. Rosary will
    be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will
      be at the Barstow Cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.
                He was born in Candelaria. He was Catholic.
     SURVIVORS: Mother, Manuela Chavez of Pecos; and sisters, Esperanza
    Abila of Barstow, Yolanda Gonzales and Maria Juarez, both of Pecos,
     Eustolia Martinez of Chicago, Hortencia Jimenez of Laredo and Eva
                              Porras of Ozona.

   ALPINE Frank Raymond McLaughlin, 83, of Alpine died Wednesday, May 30,
                       2001, at a local nursing home.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Anglican Church.
     Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin
                               Funeral Home.
           He was born in Binghamton, N.Y. He was a Navy veteran.
     SURVIVORS: Wife, Lucille E. McLaughlin of Alpine; daughter, Gloria
   McLaughlin of Alpine; son, Douglas McLaughlin of Silgler, Okla.; five
                   grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
                             Larry Sterling Sr.
                                      
   ODESSA Larry Don Sterling Sr., 52, of Odessa, an oilfield rig and pump
     mechanic, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital.
   Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Heights Baptist Church
    with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
    Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
   He was born in Paris, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Odessa. He
                                was Baptist.
   SURVIVORS: Wife, Elisa Sterling of Odessa; sons, Larry Sterling Jr. of
     Odessa and Joshua Wayne Sterling of Weatherford; daughter, Melanie
        Shanee Sterling Pulliam of Odessa; sisters, Jerry Duggan of
     Weatherford, Jo Ann Sledge and Sandi Sterling, both of Odessa, and
       Shirley Sterling of White Settlement; and three grandchildren.

      ODESSA Laura Faye Sullivan, 77, of Odessa, a retired employee of
       Walgreen Stores, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her residence.
     Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson
    Funeral Directors with the Rev. Bill Heggemeier officiating. Burial
      will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W.
                         Wilson Funeral Directors.
   She was born in Grainola, Okla., and moved to Odessa in 1962. She was
                                 Methodist.
   SURVIVORS: Son, Jack Sullivan of Odessa; sister, Floran Hutchinson of
    Farmington, N.M.; brothers, Warren Johnston of Artesia, N.M., Robert
     Johnston of Fallon, Nev., and Wayne Johnston of Albuquerque, N.M.;
                four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
