Ruffin The funeral service for Alvie L. Ruffin, 75, 1502 W. Baldridge, was held at 2 p.m. Friday in Keever Chapel with the Rev. John Dowd, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Rice Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Gilbert Wright, O.L. Reeve, J. Hugh Green, Leslie Harris, Worth Benton, and Dorsey B. Fowler. Mr. Ruffin died Wednesday night in Navarro Co. Memorial Hospital, Corsicana. He was born May 3, 1898 in Alma, the son of George and Lula Ruffin. He was reared in Alma and attended the Alma School. He was a veteran of World War I serving in Europe with the 144th Infantry, Company L. After returning from the service he attended Tyler Commercial College. He was Station Agent for the Texas Electric Railway and owned and operated a grocery store in Alma for several years. Nov. 14, 1920 he was married to Miss Iola Lennon of Alma and they lived in Alma until 1963 when they moved to Ennis. Mr. Ruffin was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis.
