Lena Dell Burks

Funeral services were held Mar. 24 for Lena Dell Burks, 90, who died Mar. 21 at 
her daughter’s home in Huffman.

Paul Shockley officiated at the service, held at Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel 
in Crockett. Burial followed at Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett.

Mrs. Burks was a member of First Baptist Church in Huffman. Her husband, Norman 
Burks, pastored several churches in Texas for more than 40 years, including 
Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield from 1967 to 1974.

She celebrated her 90th birthday Jan. 1, 2010 with a card shower from many 
friends across the state of Texas.

Mrs. Burks is survived by her son George Burks and wife Cheryl of Conroe, 
daughters Judy Wells of Montgomery and Lagene Story and husband Eddie of Huffman;
Fourteen grandchildren, including Mark, Mike, Jill, David, Jerry, Stephen, 
Deann, Carla, Elaine, Lezley, Landon, Lauren, Timothy and James, 27 great-
grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Burks in 2005, son Jerry Burks,
daughters Norma Dell Burks and Kathy Sue Passons and son-in-law Vernon Wells.
