Freestone County, Texas Obits Corsicana Daily Sun newspaper - Apr 4, 2004 edition Allene (McConnico) Evans Allene McConnico Evans, 96, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2 p.m. today at Birdston Cemetery in Streetman with the Rev. Wayne Mahoney officiating. Mrs. Evans' nephews will be serving as pallbearers. No formal visitation will be held. Mrs. Evans passed away at 1:35 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. She was born in Streetman on Oct. 28, 1907 to C.J. and Velma Ellis McConnico. She married J. Clair Evans in Streetman in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1974. Mrs. Evans was a retired executive for Russell Stover Candy Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Streetman and was a sunday school teacher and superintendent. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Store for 50 years. Survivors include: two nieces, Mary Ann O'Neal of Sulpher Springs and Kathy Stickel of Pacific Palisades, CA; five nephews, Steve McConnico of Austin, Kit McConnico of Hurst, Ken McConnico of Seabrook, Gary McConnico of Streetman and Chris McConnico of Purdon. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert D. McConnico, Charlie McConnico, and Billy McConnico; one sister, Mattie Lou Sims; and one nephew, Bob McConnico.
