Linda Kay (Mathena) Smith

TEAGUE - Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Kay Smith, 58, were held this 
morning (Wednesday), July 5, 2006, at 10 o’clock in Eighth Avenue Baptist 
Church. The Rev. Harold Mathena and the Rev. James Hardison officiated. Burial 
was in Bogata Cemetery near Paris, Texas, under direction of Blair-Stubbs 
Funeral Home-Teague.

Mrs. Smith, who died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at her residence in Hewitt, was 
born at DePort on Dec. 23, 1947. She was a Baptist and a retired employee of 
Mexia State School.

Surviving are her husband, Earnest Smith of Hewitt; her parents, Wiley and 
Wava Brown Mathena; her children - David Smith and wife Ann of LaPort, Rebecca
Korn and husband Scott of Hewitt, and Stephen Smith of Hewitt; grandchildren - 
Laynie Korn and Joseph Smith, and a brother, Michael Mathena of Richmond.

Pallbearers were John Lee Smith, Skipper Cothran, James Hardison, Don Shelby, 
Richard Bowels, Wayne Harleson, Jason Robbins and Martin McKee.

Visitation was Tuesday evening, July 4, 2006, from 5 until 7 o’clock at the 
funeral home.
