Obituaries Donald Stubblefield Funeral services were held last weekend for Donald Stubblefield, 71, of St. Elmo who died Tuesday, Oct. 7. Mr. Stubblefield was born in Frost on April 28, 1937, to Lois and Cecil Stubblefield. He attended school in Frost and graduated in 1955. Following graduation, Mr. Stubblefield joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Denver, Colorado. On Dec. 27, 1957, he married Carole "Susie" Jeffries and together they had three children. He and his family moved to Irving where he was employed with Murdock Machinery and Engineering for over 30 years. Mr. Stubblefield was active participating in motorcycle racing, rodeos, athletics and the Irving Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). Upon retiring, he and his wife moved to St. Elmo where he spent his time gardening and fishing. Mr. Stubblefield joined Lakeside United Methodist Church and was active in the "Carpenters for Christ" organization. Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Sandra Hippmin officiating. Burial followed at Frost Cemetery. Mr. Stubblefield is survived by his wife of over 50 years "Susie"; sons, Donald W. of Hurst, Terry and fiancé Elene of Anchorage, Alaska; grandson Travis Stevens and wife Natasha; great- granddaughter Ani Lee Stevens of Austin; and sister, Neva and husband W.M. Perry of Seagoville. He is preceded in death by his parents Lois and Cecil Stubblefield; brother, Melva Stubblefield; sister, Sylvia Hunter; grandson, Todd E. Stevens; and daughter Shelly Stevens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society through Freestone County Relay for Life. Arrangements were made Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.
