Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Donald Truitt Suits, Sr. Donald Truitt Suits, Sr., 81, of Fairfield, went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 10, 2011 at his residence. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at First Baptist Church with his son and Pastor Don Suits, II officiating assisted by Bro. George Swan. Interment followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Capps Memorial Chapel. Mr. Suits was born April 19, 1930 in Olney, Texas to parents Moses Preston and Bertie Mae Roby Suits. He married Juanita Vest on April 18, 1953 in Dallas and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fairfield where he was a deacon. Mr. Suits would help anyone at anytime and he was a skilled “fix it” man, fisherman and an avid outdoorsman. He was a former Boy Scout leader. Many knew him as “the candy man” as he was always handing out candy to everyone. He served as a reserve officer and judo instructor for the Dallas Police Dept. He was named Outstanding Police Officer in 1962; he was near the site where President Kennedy was slain. He was present in the basement, only feet away, when Lee Harvey Oswald was killed following the assassination of President Kennedy and his name appears in the Warren Commission Report. For a number of years Mr. Suits worked in the natural gas business with companies such as Lone Star Gas, Norgas and Nipak fertilizer. He also worked as a maintenance man for FISD and later worked as a hot shot driver until he retired. Our pawpaw was a Christian and wanted everyone to laugh and sing and he especially loved holidays and get-togethers with the family. He loved his church and fellowship meals where his plate was always piled high. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Philip Douglas Suits in 1968; three brothers, Eldridge; Marion and Preston Suits; two sisters, Lois French and Margie Adams. Pallbearers will be Micheal Clark, Terry McDonald, Philip Miller, Charles Bradley, Bobby Suits and James Thompson. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Juanita; three children, Donald T. Suits II and wife Connie; Anita Bielamowicz and husband Cary; Joy Miller and husband Travis; grandchildren, Jason Suits; Terry McDonald; Micheal Clark, Kelli Clark; Racheal Clark; Philip Miller; Victoria Lame; Mikey Bielamowicz; and Olivia Kate Miller; greatgrandchildren, Kelsi Hall; Rylee Jo McDonald; Madison Suits, Ayden Hall and Madison Hall; many nieces, nephews and “adopted sons” Charles and Trippy”.
