At the fire at I.H. Harrison's house several weeks ago he was struck in the back by a falling timber and since that time he has been complaining, though he did not think he was seriously hurt; he was also drenched with water from the fire hose. He went to the drug store for some medicine when he was suddenly prostrated with congestion and being too sick to be moved, he remained there until death relieved him of his suffering. Dr. Tumlin performing the burial services. He leaves a wife and several small children. He was Chief of the Sulphur Springs Fire Dept., and the fire station and city hall were draped in black. He was born and raised in this community. Burial was made in the City cemetery. Mrs. Sallie Stokes of Rock Creek attended the funeral of her brother, T. D. Sparks. It was voted that the Fire Dept. would pay the funeral expense. (S.S. Gazette, Mar.9, 1906)
