He joined the Baptist church at Spring Creek, Alabama, Ê23 years ago. He was married 29 years ago the 29th of last October 1914. He had lived in Texas 20 years and in our city 6 years. He served this precinct as constable for eight or ten years. Elected Sheriff and served two successive terms, having retired from the office last November. ÊHad been in delicate health for many years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wallace Bassett at the family home, burial in the City cemetery. Six children were born to Brother and Sister Ray, and five are living. At the time of his death he was a member of the Baptist church in our city. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Apr. 2, 1915)
