All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** WILLIAMS, MARTHA, MRS. - Cumby, Hopkins Co., Texas - Dec. 19, 1920 - Mrs. Martha Williams, wife of R. R. Williams, died at the family residence in this place last Thursday night. Mrs. Williams was born in Floyd Co., Georgia, May 4, 1840. Early in life her parents moved to Dallas, Ark., at which place she was married and with her husband moved to Texas in 1868, locating at this place (then known as Black Jack Grove) in 1872, this being her home ever since. It will be remembered that her husband was a candidate in the Democratic primaries in 1908 for the office of Governor against T. M. Campbell and received 127,000 votes for that office. She is survived by her husband, three daughters and two sons, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church conducted by Rev. D. A. McReynolds, assisted by Revs. J. G. Ramey of Greenville, H. M. Cowling, and Fred S. Rogers of this place. Burial was made in the Cumby cemetery. (Dallas Morning News, Dec. 20, 1920)
