So, you seevery nearly all get to hear the word of God preached every Sunday and also can attendSunday school. For school, I can say we have one of the best it is a No. 1 school and teachers youcould not beat. You can tell a Sunnyside pupil anywhere you see one. They arepleasant looking, wear a smile and are bright boys and girls.Mr. Wright was one of our first teachers at Sunnyside and the old barn on Mr. G.B.McLaughlinÕs farm was SunnysideÕs first school house.Among the old settlers is Grandmother Jameson. she lived here before Stamford had anybuildings, just a stake stuck in the ground and Stamford printed on it. She and herhusband hauled lumber from Abilene with a yoke of oxen to build their house. She is85 years of age and can get around like a 16-year-old. She surely is a worker. shewelcomes her visitors in a covers her table with nice things to eat. Her smoke-houseis full of hams and fruits of all kinds and her years is covered with chickens andturkeys. We have three or four modern homes in our community with all the latest equipment. Wehave two or three dairy farmers and some few have their Fordsons to farm with. Thereare several poultry farms. As to our community, we have one of the best I think.ÒThen hold up your head and the world never dread donÕt care for its sneer or itsfrown; stare fate in the face, if your hearts in its place, they canÕt keep theworkingman down.ÓWe have a fine lot of intelligent farmers at Sunnyside.
