All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tx/jones/jonestoc.htm *********************************************************** The Stamford AmericanThursday, June 16, 1927Historic Swenson Office Gives way to new buildingFrame Structure erected in 1902 to be moved to Moran StreetWorkmen are scheduled to begin today the removal of the historic townsite officebuilding of the Swenson Land and Cattle Company from the spot on East McHarg avenuewhere it has stood for the past quarter century to a lot on West Moran Street.The frame building is being moved to make way for the new office and store buildingto be erected by the Swensons at the Northeast corner of the square. The new buildingwill occupy two lots, being 50 x 150 feet. The structure will be of either stone orbrick. It will be divided into two parts. The building, 50 x 50 feet will face onMcHarg avenue and will house the offices of the Swenson Land and Cattle Company.Detailed plans for the building have not yet been completed.The old building which is being moved will be placed on the second lot north ofFerguson street on the south side of Moran Street. The building was erected bySwenson Brothers in 1902, according to P.P. Berthelot.
