This photo is the final resting place of my great grandmother Pilar Serenil.
She was the daughter of Genaro de la Cruz and Maria de Jesus Zuniga, also
buried at the Gillett Latin Cemetery.

She was born 12 October 1868 in Saspamco , Wilson, Texas and christened 17
January 1869 in Graytown, Wilson, Texas.

Her grandfather was Juan Jose de la Cruz and great grandfather Damasio de la
Cruz.

Pilar Cruz married Jose Serenil who is also buried in the Gillett Latin
Cemetery

Additional Comments:
The de la Cruz family were founding families of Mission San Jose de Aguayo in
Bexar county in 1720. Damasio de la Cruz was the last Indian Governor of San
Jose de Aguayo in 1818.
