ROSS, W. P., Beeville Bee, Friday, 18 Dec 1903:

The news of the death on last Sunday evening of Mr. W. P. ROSS, the well-known grocery
merchant, was a great shock to his many friends and acquaintances who having seen him
at his place of business the day before in the best of health and spirits were unaware of
his illness.

Mr. Ross left his store Saturday evening and went to his house in perfect health. Early
Sunday morning he was struck with apoplexy and soon lapsed into unconsciousness from
when he never rallied, his death occurring at half past six o'clock.

The deceased was in his forty-eighth year of his age and was a native of Arkansas, moving
to Texas with his parents and settling in Gonzales county when a youth. Up to fourteen years
ago he resided in Lavaca County when he moved to Clareville in this county where he engaged
in farming. Two years ago he became a resident of Beeville managing a grocery store and
having built up a considerable business.

The deceased leaves a wife and two children, a son and daughter to mourn his death, besides a
brother, Dr. D. D. Ross of sweet Home. The funeral occurred on Monday morning the interment
being in the new cemetery. Religious services were conducted by Rev. J. T. H. Miller of the
Methodist church of which Mr. Ross had been a member many years.
