He married Cynthia Ann Guest (1820-1899) on 5 Sep 1841 in Habersham, Georgia. Their children included Clark Monroe Keeling (1842-1880), Elizabeth Malonia Keeling (1846-1930), Leonard Sanford Keeling (1849-1887), Lucy Jane Keeling (1851-1930), William A. Keeling (1854-1877), Mary Ursley Keeling (1854-1853), Anne E. Keeling born about 1857, Sanford Keeling born about 1858, Littleton Morgan Keeling (1859-1954), C. Columbus Keeling (1861-1877), Cynthia J. Keeling (1865-1903), George W. Keeling (1866-1921), and Posey Alexander Keeling (1868-1917). During the Civil War he was a Captain in Co. H, 24th, Georgia Infantry of the Confederate States of America. He was a elected a State Senator from the State of Georgia but prevented from serving due to his Confederate service. Burial at Riley's Chapel Cemetery.
