Amos Wesley Smith, born in Georgia, the son of Britain Briton Smith (1785-1858) and Martha Williams (1788-1857). He married in Alabama in 1 Jan 1824 to Elizabeth A. Smith (1819-1871). Her maiden name may be Godwin. Their children included Martha G. Smith born about 1835, P. G. Smith born about 1836, Nancy E. Smith born about 1841, Mariah Ellen Smith (1844-1914), Morsich E Smith born about 1844, Benjamin F. Smith born about 1845, R. A. Smith born about 1847, Madison B. Smith (1848-1923), Bethira Angelina Smith (1848-1888), Alfred Bunion Smith (1851-1912), Sarah Carden Smith (1853-1931), M. Autitia Smith born about 1855, Thomas G. Smith born about 1857, Lavinia A. Smith born about 1860, and Amos Wesley Smith (1863-1933). During the Civil War he enlisted in the Confederate Army in Co. E, 24th/25th Consolidated Regiment, Texas Cavalry. Burial at Riley's Chapel Cemetery.
