I am searching for anyone with connections to Sarah Fannie LEWIS and Thomas Jefferson REYNOLDS. Sarah's parents were Elijah LEWIS and Mary MOSS. She was born 9 June 1815 in Franklin County, AL and died 3 November 1893 in Camp County, TX. I have found information that (at least) four of their children were married and/or lived in Camp County: Julia F. REYNOLDS (b. 1836) married William H. Pitts (2nd marriage); Rebecca Catherine REYNOLDS (b. 8 Aug 1847) married James Marion BIRD; Preston Pope REYNOLDS (b. 1850) married Nellie W. Scarbrough; Lucy Adele REYNOLDS (b. 3 Oct 1854) married Elijah Ward LIGHTFOOT; John F. REYNOLDS (b. 29 Aug 1856) married Lizzie CATON. While I do not descend from any of the listed individuals, I have reason to believe that I DO descend from one of Sarah's siblings. Having lived in Camp County, I would love to know if I have a connection to anyone researching these families. The sibling I believe I descend from is Thomas M. LEWIS b. 31 Mar 1819, married to Sarah ???. They had a daughter, Mary who was likely my 2nd great grandmother. If anyone has any information on THIS family, please, please, contact me! Thanks.

My g-grandfather C.C.F. (Christopher) GRAU was born in in 1849 and appears on the 1850 Bowie Co. census, son of George Frederick GRAU. George Frederick GRAU was from Germany and arrived in the US with his brother as a boy/young man - probably around 1830 +/- a few years. George moved his family to Cass Co. He is believed to be buried between Cass and Franklin Co., may Morris Co. Christopher is buried in Franklin Co. According to Ancestry.com's serch engine for the 1820-1890 census, the index lists a William Gran on the 1880 Camp Co. census in E.D.6, Page 26. I have reason to believe this may be a (common) transcription error for the name GRAU, that I am researching. If you know anything about this particular household or have access to the full index, please contact me - or if we may be related, by all means please contact me.

I am researching my great grandparents and great, great grandparents. They are William Terrell Payne, Nora Sallie Seale Payne, Terrell M. Payne, Judah Hix Payne, James David Seale, Sarah Caroline Seale. They were early settlers in Camp County. The Paynes came from Franklin County, Georgia. Terrell M. fought in the Civil War. They first showed up in the 1880 census. They were in Texas by 1871 when the youngest daughter, Mary was born. when William Terrell was 16. He married Nora Seale in 1884. Sarah Caroline was from Ark. James David was from South Carolina. All were born in the early to mid 1800's. I have heard that Judah Hix Payne remarried after Terrell M. died. I am trying to find out who she married and where she died. Any information about any of these people would be appreciated.

Sometime in the 1930's or so my graet Uncle John Meaders, was killed my his wife, Wanda. The family sotry is that she was involved with some one else and that she killed him, put his body in a car and placed the car on the railroad tracks. The train stopped before he hit the car and my great grandfather, Dan Meaders, went and got him out of the car. They he and my other great uncles, DB, Rainey, Glenn and my grandfather Royce went to her house. The sorty goes that Dan Meaders shot her in the leg with a powerful gun and she lost her leg. She also went to prison. Does anyone have access to the newspapers on Mt Vernon, Pittsburg,etc. I would love to have the truth so I can share with the rest of the family. Looking to find out what happened to Samuel Harrison Couch. Was on the 1880 census, age 18 living at home with John Marion Couch (father) and mother Mary Jane. In 1891 when John Marion's estate went to probate, he was listed as residing in Camp County. Also, his sister, Emma Delilah who supposedly married a man with the last name of HEIDLE. Another sister, Nancy Caroline supposed to have married a man with last name of SUTTON. The two sisters were married prior to 1891 as they are listed in the probate records with the last names of Sutton and Ray. Can anyone help with this?

Looking for information on WATTS in Camp County.. Matilda WATTS with sons Edy, Walter and Charles are there in the 1880 census.. Walter WATTS, my GR.Grandfather, seems to have disappeared.. Ed was there through the 1930 census. Wife's name is Roxie. Three sons, Earl, Carl and R.A. Charlie was there in 1910, but can't find him after.. Thank you in advance!!
