NAME: Laura Stansell Lewis
EMAIL: seeimred@hotmail.com
I am seeking information on the 1863 land owner of what is now Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg. According to one story this person was a Samuel Pierce. I cannot locate this name in the 1860 or 1870 census. The original homestead was supposedly located adjacent to the fence line at the back of the cemetery. My point of interest with Rose Hill is with the 4 graves marked with native red rocks and carved with partial names and year of death on the west side of the stones. 3 are dated 1863 and one is 1865. I am researching an old story regarding the men buried there. If anyone has more information on the land owner, Rose Hill Cemetery, or the graves please contact me.
