Ernest Lee & Jewel Cave
by Donna CaveMy sister, Carol, and I lived with our parents just outside Brownfield. I lived there from 1947 to 1963 and Carol lived there until 1961 when she married. Our father, Ernest Lee "Skeeter" Cave, was a preacher at Pleasant Valley Church. He also farmed the A. T. Fowler place. The old jail that was on the property was not just used for storage but housed the workers who came from Mexico to work the fields. Many of the same people came back year after year to work on the farm for my parents. Daddy and our mother, Jewel, were well thought of by the workers.
