Marriage Records
These records were transcribed by James and Shirley Webb from Marriage Book No. 1 of the Terry County Marriage Records found at the Terry County Courthouse, Brownfield, Texas, in April 2005. The names are written as found on the records. A question mark (?) means we think that is the correct spelling. The spelling of a few names has been changed if the correct spelling is known to be different. Family members are invited to e-mail this Terry County genealogy webpage to correct any errors they see. However, this will only change the information on the webpage, not the courthouse record.The date given is that of the marriage ceremony as recorded by the official who performed the rites. If the license was issued but no marriage date was recorded, "lic" is written by the date to indicate this is the date the license was issued and not the date of the marriage. It may be that the marriage was not performed or that the official failed to return the information to the courthouse.
