Gary Cemetery
aka Pool/Poole Cemetery
Clifton, Texas
Located on the Hill View Ranch owned by George BOUTWELL. Approximatley 35 graves are marked and 25 with uninscribed stones, last burial was in 1932. This cemetery was originally on the land owned by William GARY. It was later sold to the POOLE family and has been known for many years as the Poole Cemetery. Through the efforts of Elizabeth TORRENCE, a POOLE descendant, the cemetery has been renamed in honor of the first settlers and owners of this piece of land. The cemetery sits in the middle of a cattle field on a knob or small hill covered by cedars. The Boy Scouts of that area have recently built a fence around the cemetery to keep the cattle out.
