P. C. Johnson

This is not my family but it is a very interesting story.

P. C. Johnson
Killed by Indians
At Johnson Peak
1859

This man was burned at the stake on top of Johnson Peak just south of Iredell. He had a small son as the story goes who his and got away. The boy escaped and went to Meridian during the night. I climbed to the top of this peak 20 years ago there are two very large at least 4-6 foot long boulders on top of it. My Dad had told me that, as a young boy, he could lay on those flat rocks with binoculars and see his dad milking 6 miles away. I'm sure some of the old timers down there could give you a better story than I.
