On January 18, 1813 Henry Davis Allen, Rhody Allen's son and my G-G-G-Grandfather, was commissioned Captain in the War of 1812. He served in the Tennessee Militia, 27th Regiment. His regiment was the builder of the road from Columbia, TN to Mobile, AL which facilitated the movement of troops and supplies to General Andrew Jackson prior to the Battle of New Orleans in January, 1815.

Enlisted 26 JUL 1861 as a Pvt., Montgomery, AL for the period of the war. Served in the Army of Northern Virginia, Co. E, 13th Alabama, Colquitt's Brigade, De Witt's Division. The 13th Alabama infantry participated in a number of various engagements including Seige of Yorktown, Battle of Seven Pines, Cold Harbor, Malvern Hill, Antietam (Sharpsburg), Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville Campaign, and Gettysburg. On 1 JUL 1863, the first day of the Gettsburg Campaign, Pvt. Burdette was captured along with 75 other Alabamians as well as Gen. James Archer along Chambersburg Pike., and was sent to Ft. Delaware Prison, Ft. Delaware, DE. He was released 14 JUN 1865. Shortly after his return to Randolph Co., AL, along with his wife Millie Elizabeth, moved with their three children to Texas, eventually to Meridian, Bosque Co., 1881. B.A. Burdette, died 14 SEP 1921, age 86. He is buried in the Meridian Cemetery. Confederate Pension application # 5966, 10 Feb. 1900.

From the Official Application for Confederate Pension, State of Texas, received Jan. 30, 2000, there is the following information: Applied for the pension August, 1898. Place of application, Iredale, Bosque Co. TX. He stated that he had lived in Bosque County since "last December." (Dec. 1897) Mailing address, Iredale Post Office. Age, "60 on 10th day of last March." Occupation," Farmer, when able to work." Served in " Company E, in Col. O.N. Roberts, Texas Reg. Inf." Property owned at the time of application, "A wagon and 2 mules worth $125.00, this is all of my worldly goods." Place of enlistment, Knoxville, Cherokee County, TX. Served from 1862 to 1864. G.E. Walters and R.W. Turner stated that they knew him in the Army from 1862 to 1864. Thomas was discharged Nov. 18, 1862 at Camp Nelson, AR. for medical reasons. From Discharge Papers, Library of Congress, Military Archives, Description; 5 feet, 4 inches high, Dark Complexion, Yellow Eyes, Black Hair, twenty years of age. The application was approved 22 Sept. 1899 by the County Judge and County Commissioners. He received the pension until his death in March, 1904, a period of 5 years. Sam was born in Bosque County, TX. He was a veteran of the Army and Navy and served during both World War II and the Korean War. For 30 years, he lived in the Amarillo area and was a member of PRCA. He retired as a state cattle inspector with the Texas Animal Health Commission and had worked for several ranches in the Texas Panhandle, including the Waggoner Ranch in Vernon. Sam died at the age of 72, on 01 APR 2000 in Amarillo, & was buried in Lano East Cemetery, TX.

Civil War - Enlisted in the CSA in 1861 at Newnan, GA. He served in the Navy aboard the gunboat "Savannah" until it floundered off the coast of Savannah in 1863. He escaped and joined Robert E. Lee's forces in Virginia until the end of the war.

John Brown enlisted Sept 12, 1861 in Henderson County, TX., and served until the close of the war. He was a corporal at the close of the war. Pension # 18110. Died at 80 years of age; Military service: served in the Texas 6th Calvary, Company I, during the Civil War
